Old Burnt Paper Photoshop Tutorial
Hey folks,
In this tutorial, we’re gonna draw an old burnt paper with photoshop. This is a step by step tutorial for beginners! if you have anything to add, please write a comment!

Let’s start:
1. File > New:
Width: 450 pixels
Height: 300 pixels
Background contents: White
2. Press M and make a selection like the following:

3. Choose the following colors :
Foreground: 7b6b32
Background: dcd08e
4. Create a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+N).
5. Filter > Render > Clouds. You will have the following:

6. Filter > Noise > Add Noise… and set the following settings:

7. Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. And set the following settings:

8. You will have something similar to this:

9. Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options… and add the following effects:
Drop Shadow:

Inner Shadow:

10. You will have something similar to this:

11. Now press E to select the eraser then select the following brush and edit the settings:

12. Erase the edges of the paper to have something similar to the following:

13. Finally, press T to select the Text tool and select an old handwriting font. I have chosen the “Berthold Script”! And write some texts… Here’s the final result:

Or you can use other techniques to embed a photo in the paper:

If you want a nice font to go with this, “Weathered SF” goes quite well if you bevel/emboss it. Thanks for this really helpful tutorial!

To embed a photo, you can simply add any photo, desaturate it, make transparent and clean up its borders with the eraser tool (Hardness 0%)…

Very nice tip, but why are the colors defined in hex? How about RGB values instead?
