I had enough troubles this month while I was transferring this blog and some other websites to a new dedicated server. The fact is that I suck in server administration and it’s not at all my main focus. So what happened is that when I moved my websites including this blog to the new dedicated server, it crashed in less than a week and I lost about 3 articles because I didn’t have backups… I’m sorry for all those friends who commented on these new posts! Now they’re gone. Anyway, I wanted to find a good shared hosting plan to host my websites, so I’ve done researches for about a week and asked for reviews from webmasters about some known hosting plans; and guess what? Hostgator.com Baby hosting plan was the best… No one ever had a problem with that hosting company, amazing support really!
So… I hope I won’t get into troubles anymore because I’m really sick of transferring my websites, backing up and stuff!
Stay tuned

I composed a song when I was 18 years old, and I would like to share it with you and take your opinion! It’s an Oriental Progressive Metal instrumental, it’s kinda symphonic because there exist 17 instruments. The recording of this piece was done on my old desktop pc; I looked everywhere by that time for Sound Fonts and found interesting ones. I did not know enough about DXi and VXTi (Virtual Instruments) by that time but I managed very well with sound fonts.
This song is called “Sahara’s Fate”. Why Sahara’s Fate? well, there are no lyrics, but you will see how this piece expressed my story or my version of the very well known myth “Noah’s Arc”. The hero in this song is Dramata who is a beast sent by God to clean up the earth! By that time, God was angry because of the human behavior. Dramata was the flood that covered the whole Sahara! Only one man and woman stood outside the gate, they had the honor to establish a new life style. This is in brief the theme of this song, you might want to read the lyrics of this song which were never sang! I think this song expressed my story musically much better. In the end, I’m not anymore into this kind of music but I’m still so much interested in Mythology which cannot really be expressed with my current style of music (Jazz/Blues). I cannot deny that this is the piece of music that took time the most (around 3 months) and it’s still one of my favorite compositions. You will notice that I did not record any guitar with this piece because I couldn’t afford paying for a studio, even though, I had a chance to record in a professional studio but after few sessions things started to get messed up because time was not that year a friend of mine and my manager/friend Bash. Anyway… enough talking! Listen to Sahara’s Fate and give me your opinion:

Hey friends,
I just came back from a 10 days trip to morocco. I had the ACM Arab and North Africa programing competition. Our team was Me, Jad and Farouk and it was called LAU Gurus! the competition was held on Saturday 2/12/2006. Farouk and the other teams left Morocco on Sunday 3/12/2006.
I stayed me and Jad to enjoy the trip a little bit. We met some great friends who helped us discover nice places there. On Thursday, my Dell Inspiron Laptop was stolen. Someone has broken the door of our apartment and stole my Laptop case which contains my laptop, my passport and some cash. I had to stay few more days there to get a Laisser Passer from the Lebanese embassy and buy another ticket. The negative was that all my projects, my Final Year Project, my job and all my data was gone but, Sara, my friend, was always there to help me find my laptop back and we spend amazing time together which made me forget this big issue! The thief was Youssef el Krid, a student in AUI who was under drug effect and most probably he needed some money to buy some cocaine! I called the Moroccan Prime Minister’s relative and he’s gonna send some agents to Ifrane to help me get my laptop back… I’m back to Lebanon now and trying to manage without my laptop! This is a brief story of what happened with me during this trip which was a really great experience. “Thanks so much Sara for everything and planning to see you again soon!”
And thanks to everyone who asked for my number in morocco and called me! Really thanks!
I’ll keep you updated!
Elie
